"Do good so good can follow you"
"Do good so good can follow you" is what Devoney's Grandmother always told her. When the good work her family did during the war in Nicaragua - helping people to vote during a volatile time - caused them to fear for their lives, Devoney and her family were forced to leave.
Devoney's family arrived in the U.S. a little over a year ago and although it is a difficult transition, she will tell you her family's good work has blessed her here in Austin, Texas, According to Devoney, a big part of this blessing was finding the Volunteer Healthcare Clinic (vHC), which ensured her kids had access to quality health care.
Having 6-year old twins with asthma and not being able to afford the inhalers was frightening. A friend of Devoney's Aunt referred her to our Clinic and now she and her children are breathing easier. Her kids were also able to get their flu shots last year and attended Healthy Kids Day where they received well child checks as well as backpacks filled with school supplies (featuring Spiderman & Dinosaurs for the twins).
The Volunteer Healthcare Clinic has been able to make a positive difference in the lives of so many families like Devoney's through our services. We are reaching out to ask for your financial support to continue providing essential medical services to the underserved Austin community.
Your financial gift today will help us in our mission to improve health & lives and build a healthier community where everyone can thrive. In the words of a wise woman, "do good so good can follow you."
P.S. Your gift - and your impact - will go even further with a special $35,000 matching grant!
